Human Communities is an Open Source Community Project

• Information for those becoming involved with, starting, or running Human Communities.

Human communities started off as a project in pursuit of an Open Source type solution for communities to use for web applications. It became apparent to the developers that far better projects were being developed by communities such as Mambo, Joomla, Drupal, Webly etc. During our development we spent many years with different types of communities trying to understand what they would be looking for in an online tool to assist them in what they do.

It soon became apparent that many were simply struggling with their communities manifestation in the Biosphere where issues are far more human and a lot less digital, so Human Communities became more about sharing what communities learned.

We still believe that the online world has a huge contribution to make, and it became more about sharing with other communities what solutions that are out there, what works for us and what didn't. We are about "Sharing what communities learn"

OUR ETHOS

Re-establishing communities is a positive step forward in any Society and there are many learning’s from the past as well as new ones yet to come. Any community trying to survive outside today’s consumer society finds it tougher and tougher.

Human Communities hopes to contribute to making it easier, it is about sharing what communities have learned.

What sort of a community do you live in?

How does the community around you help you tackle the issues of the day and the problems of the wider world, does it help you to express the passions you may have for making the world a better place or does it constrain you?

Does it provide support, a real friendly group of people around you mutually aiding one another through the difficulties of life on whatever level, economic, spiritual, social?

Do you feel comfortable and at home in the community which is your neighbours and your street, or somewhat isolated?

Do you talk to your neighbours or sit at home alone and wishing you had something better to do with your days?

What sort of a community do you want to live in?

In the West there is a standard paradigm in regards to how we live and it is relatively only a handful of us that even only attempt to do it differently.

Human Communities is about what binds us together, our sense of belonging, part of our participating

Above all Human Communities is about sharing what communities learn.
